The Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) program is one of the degrees in Nepal with a high scope and potential to help students develop the necessary skills required.
The main focus of the course is on website, application, and software development. Students can also work in different fields like design and multimedia, system administration, network security, and so on.
Also, the program aims to develop within students a range of competencies in problem analysis and solving techniques, business skills, software design, and development.
Colleges in Nepal that offer BCA are affiliated with Purbanchal University, Tribhuvan University, and Pokhara University. Currently, 120 colleges are running BCA programs in affiliation with Tribhuvan University.
The BCA program aims to produce high-quality computer application developers and users. The BCA program at TU lasts for 4 years (8 semesters).
The program runs on a semester system. It will run under the faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences. Every academic year begins in September and February.
This course differs from other computer-related courses in its primary focus. If we read through the syllabus of BCA, then we will find that the main focus of the course is on core programming and development.
Students will learn several programming languages throughout the BCA degree. Moreover, they have to develop many projects using a different programming language in the 4th, 6th, and 8th semesters.
In the final semester, students will have to do an internship in IT industries according to their interest area.

Fee Structure of BCA
It costs Rs 350,000 to RS 4,00,000 to study BCA on government campuses. In private colleges, depending on the facilities provided by the college, the approximate evaluation ranges between Rs 4,00,000 and Rs 1,200,000.

ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS FOR BCA ADMISSION
FOR TU: A minimum grade of "D+" in each subject with a CGPA of at least 2.0.
FOR POKHARA UNIVERSITY: Students should have scored a minimum of a "C" grade in all subjects at +2. A student who has completed +2 or intermediate level in any subject such as science, engineering, management, art, and others, can apply to the BCA program of Pokhara University with "45%" marks.
FOR PURBANCHAL UNIVERSITY: BCA applicants must have passed plus two with "D+" grades in each subject and an aggregate grade of at least "C" or have an intermediate level or diploma in engineering with at least "45%" in aggregate.
Admission Criteria for BCA [CMAT]
Interested candidates must appear and pass the BCA Entrance Exam conducted by TU, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science.
Interested candidates can fill out the BCA entrance form at any college offering a BCA program affiliated with TU.
Students can enroll in any TU BCA college after passing the BCA entrance exam. But, the college must have seats for admission[35].
Due to limited seats, it is recommended that students fill out the entry form from the college where they wish to study BCA.

SYLLABUS STRUCTURE
BCA is a four-year degree that consists of 126 credit hours in total. 1 credit hour is equivalent to 16 lecture hours.
Hence, the total hours required to finish BCA are 2016 lecture hours. The total 126 credit hours are distributed among various subjects which are listed below.
However, students have to study a total of 96 credit hours of computer-related subjects which includes core courses, electives, and internships.
